FINAL INSTRUCTIONS

Dear friends, athletes, the time for our great historical races is approaching.

The Organizing Committee has worked intensively and continues to work for an unforgettable race that we would like everybody to enjoy. We will be glad to see you at the start on race day. The route is full of trees and spring scents. Mount Helicon, Mount Parnassus, beautiful Delphi and historic Plataea are waiting for you.

For your information, we would like to communicate the last instructions regarding all the races first and then each one separately.

Both athletes and crews will have to adhere to the international rules and regulations observed in all ultrarunning races.

Let us remind you that crew members can help their athletes ONLY at the designated CPs, while it is forbidden to stop and wait for athletes at water CPs.

Crew members are not allowed to park in between CPs, drive at low speed following their athlete(s), or move in the opposite race direction. It is strictly forbidden for any person other than the Organizing Committee members to run alongside an athlete. Any athletes found to violate the above rules risk disqualification.

It is reminded that crew members must be registered with their athletes. On receipt of the BIB number, any athlete who has designated a crew member will also receive an accreditation for his/her crew. Crew members are required to wear their accreditation and display a sticker with their accreditation on their vehicle. !!!CAUTION!!! No help is to be given to an athlete by an unauthorized person.

Crew members are not park their vehicle in front of, or very close to, the CPs as they obstruct the proper functioning of the race and the athlete’s progress.

The behavior of both athletes and crews towards volunteers, other athletes and the Organizing Committee should be decent. Instructions to athletes and crew members are to be given only by the accredited persons of the Organizing Committee.

For any violation of the regulations, athletes or crews will be reprimanded, while a second violation will result in the athlete’s disqualification. In the event of a serious misconduct the athlete is automatically disqualified.

Any runner who witnesses a misconduct by a fellow athlete is to report it by name and location. Such information should be communicated to the Organizing Committee during the race and not afterwards!

All vehicles should be travelling at low speed. All drivers participating in the race (crews, judges or volunteers) are to drive with their hazard warning lights on at night.

All athletes should be wearing reflective clothing and have a head lamp on at night. It is also recommended that athletes have access to a windproof layer at night as the temperature plummets.

Athletes must always have their BIB number visible during the race to record their passage from CPs, while at night they should facilitate the judges’ work by shouting their number at CPs.

Runners are to run on the side of the road indicated by arrows. The route is very well marked and there should be no problem following it.

Athletes participating in the Euchidios Athlos and hyper athlos, are reminded to be alert at the Xironomi-Domvrena section, as well as at the Distomo-Arachova section as vehicles often develop high speeds. It is always recommended to run at the side of the road.

At the entrance of Arachova town there is a tunnel; athletes are to follow the arrows and bypass the tunnel. Under no circumstances, athletes are to run through the tunnel. Any violation will result in disqualification.

Should a runner wish to retire from the race (DNF), (s)he must hand over his/her BIB number to a race official and sign the withdrawal form at the nearest CP and board the race bus. Runners should not retire without informing the race officials!!

All athletes, crews and judges are to respect nature and not litter.
